About DigestOS

The problem

If you have kids in school, you know the feeling. There's the school board app, the teacher's class platform, the parent council email list, the newsletter, the SchoolMessenger alerts. Each one sends its own notifications. Each one expects you to be paying attention.

Most of the time, you are. But occasionally — inevitably — something slips through. You miss the fundraiser deadline. You show up on the wrong day. You find the permission form in your inbox three days after it was due.

How it started

I'm a busy dad and I simply got tired of missing things. My kids were angry, missing school events and theme days, my wife was frustrated and I was frustrated with myself. After one too many last-minute scrambles, I built DigestOS, a small personal tool to automatically collect school emails, summarize them with AI, and deliver a single digest every week.

It worked. Remarkably well. And it turned out every parent I mentioned it to wanted the same thing.

What DigestOS does

DigestOS connects to your Gmail, watches for emails from the senders you care about, and delivers one clean summary every week. No more scanning through dozens of notifications. No more wondering if you missed something important. Just a clear, readable digest — on your schedule.

The insight behind it is simple: every school app, every parent platform, every community organization sends email. Email is the one thing they all have in common. DigestOS works with your inbox — so it works with everything, regardless of what platform your school uses.

Privacy first

DigestOS accesses your Gmail with read-only permission. Your emails are fetched, summarized, and the content is immediately discarded — nothing is ever stored in our database. The digest you receive is generated fresh each week and sent directly to you.

You can revoke access at any time through your Google account settings.

Built in Canada

DigestOS is a Canadian product, built and operated in Ontario. User data is handled in compliance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
